The swirls, curves and creeping vines of couture

The Fall 2013 couture season reverberated with swirling, sweeping and creeping cutlines, patterns and embellishments, giving a dynamic and almost living vibe to the striking gowns and high-end wear presented by the industry’s top designers.  Several of the more structured dresses used semi-circular bust-lines, which moved down into cut lines that swept across the lower body, keeping the eye moving along the entire figure.  For more subtle motion, broader curved lines bordered jackets and grazed hips, and a more frenzied approach was seen in swirling and writhing lacy texture on gossamer fabrics.  In a more linear, though no less organic, style of movement along the body, creeping vines added vigour and drama while maintaining the exciting sophistication of this season’s collections.
